Mobius, Vermont’s Mentoring Partnership 

Become a part of shaping the youth mentoring movement in Vermont! Mobius is currently seeking a full-time Marketing Specialist AmeriCorps VISTA member to help support and expand adult-to-youth mentoring initiatives across the state, beginning in August 2018. The Marketing Specialist VISTA will work with Mobius staff to raise public awareness of the need for mentoring, and develop and expand resources for youth mentoring programs. The VISTA position is a one year commitment, beginning August 20, 2018, and ending August 19, 2019.

Specific projects will include:

  • Expanding and managing the Mentor Discount Card
  • Assisting in the implementation of a Vermont-specific National Mentoring Month campaign
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of a year-round PR plan, including the organization’s re-branding to match MENTOR’s (The National Mentoring Partnership) national branding
  • Working with Mobius staff to secure business sponsors for the organization’s two statewide events (the National Mentoring Month Celebration and the Vermont Mentoring Symposium), the monthly newsletter, and the Mentor Discount Card
  • Managing and enhancing Mobius’ online presence, including the statewide online events calendar, and web and social media content
  • Working with Mobius staff and partners to plan and implement regional and statewide events; developing new organizational systems and marketing materials

The VISTA will be a member of the Vermont Youth Tomorrow VISTA program, which focuses on serving low-income youth across Vermont. AmeriCorps VISTA is a national, federally funded program that places volunteers in one-year service positions at organizations that focus on alleviating poverty.

CY- Connecting Youth, Charlotte Central School 

Champlain Valley School District is seeking a mentoring coordinator to manage the Connecting Youth school-based mentoring program at Charlotte Central School. This program matches and supports 5th – 8th grade students with caring adult community members who meet weekly during the school year. The ideal candidate is creative, self-motivated, and able to build and maintain relationships with key school staff and community members while juggling the many facets of a mentoring program. These include but are not limited to recruitment and screening of volunteer mentors, identification of students who will most benefit from the program, training and support of mentors, creating, scheduling and supporting matches, and general program marketing in the school and community.

The DREAM Program 

The DREAM Program (DREAM) is seeking a CEO to be a dynamic and enthusiastic voice to lead and support their mission. The CEO is accountable for fostering and growing community relations, developing and leading the organization, ensuring that efforts towards goals remain consistent with the mission and strategic plan, and ensuring best practices for fiscal management. Everybody Wins! Vermont 

Everybody Wins! Vermont has three position openings in June 2018, all in Chittenden County: 
Winooski: Site Coordinator for a start-up two-day-week program at JFK Elementary School. This position will begin in June 2018 to set up the new program at JFK and recruit mentors for fall 2018.
Burlington: Site Coordinators for two existing programs at J.J. Flynn Elementary School (Monday and Wednesday) and The Sustainability Academy at Lawrence Barnes (Tuesday and Thursday). These positions will have limited hours in July and August and will start a regular 10 hours/week schedule with our site coordinator meeting on Friday August 24th. These two positions may be hired separately or may be combined for one 20-hour/week position.

Twinfield Together Mentoring Program

The Twinfield Together Mentoring Program AmeriCorps member supports individual matches from all three programs, organizes and facilitates healthy activities for matches to access, and enhances outreach and public relations. The member also supports the youth of Twinfield Union School in accessing healthy activities during and after school. The member is encouraged to build relationships with youth by organizing afterschool activities that share their personal interests and experiences. The member will also work with the middle school teaching team to support a service-learning project with youth. Twinfield School is located on 60 acres of land, and has recreational equipment that the AmeriCorps member can access. Applicants should be willing to be physically active and be able to set good boundaries with youth.
