The ReCycle North YouthBuild Community Advisor Mentoring Program serves young women and men ages 16-24 enrolled in the YouthBuild program. YouthBuild is a job-skills training and education program for low-income youth who are ready to make positive changes in their life. Students in the program work towards obtaining their GED and gaining job-skills in the construction trade, while building affordable housing for the community. While in the program, many youth make profound life changes but can also risk falling back into old negative patterns after they graduate. Community Advisors are therefore matched one-on-one with YB participants to assist them in this difficult transition from YouthBuild to the working world or higher education. Community Advisors will support YB participants with career/education direction, setting and following through with goals, exploring interests, and overall self-confidence building.
