Spectrum Mentoring is a community-based mentoring program that matches Burlington-area teens with caring, responsible adult volunteers. Spectrum’s mission is to work together with youth and their families to strengthen their abilities to live successfully in their community. Along with Spectrum youth, Spectrum Mentoring serves youth in the Burlington middle schools and high school as well as any Chittenden County school that contracts with the program for a Student Assistance Program Counselor. Our youth age ranges from 12 years to 22 years with an average age of 15 years old.
First Year of operation: 2000
Minimum age for mentor: 21
Minimum time commitment: 1 hour/week
Minimum length of commitment: 1 calendar year
Vermont Diabetes Mentoring Project aims to match kids aged 10-17 who have Type 1 Diabetes with adult mentors who also have Type 1 Diabetes. By matching young kids with mentors – we will improve the way the kids’ manage their diabetes, while creating a fun and unique opportunity.
