The mission of this King Street Youth Center program is to make a positive difference in the lives of children by connecting youth with caring and committed adult mentors. We offer this program to children, who otherwise might not be given the opportunity, to spend one-on-one time with an adult engaging in fun and enriching activities. Children ages five through ten are given the chance to develop a special relationship with an adult volunteer who shares similar interests. The day and time are left to the discretion of the Senior Buddy, Junior Buddy and the Junior Buddy’s family. The Program Coordinator provides on-going support and guidance throughout the relationship, trainings and a support group for mentors, as well as events for both the mentors and mentees.

First Year of operation: 1984
Minimum age for mentor: 18
Minimum time commitment: 2-4 hours/week
Minimum length of commitment: one year
