The Boys & Girls Club Compass Mentoring Program links a young person (K-8th Grade) with a mentor. Any community member who supports the mission of the Boys & Girls Club can get involved in youth development in this personal way. Just as Boys & Girls Club staff member's one-to-one work with each boy or girl is the key ingredient to deepening impact, a volunteer mentor's personal attention and guidance can truly open new doors of hope and opportunity for the mentee. Mentors must make a one year commitment to meet with their mentee at least once a week for 1-2 hours.
The KnowHow2GO Mentoring Program (KH2GO) is a college readiness program that matches referred youth with adult volunteer mentors who offer guidance and support in growing socially, emotionally and academically. The goal of the program is to match mentors with mentees participating in the KH2GO program or the Teen Employment Center in a one-to-one mentoring relationship as the youth explore career and college (or post secondary educational) paths. Mentors and mentees will meet inside the Boys & Girls Club of Burlington and on their own throughout the community. The mentors are expected to make a one year commitment, which involves a 1-4 hour commitment every week.
