Honored Mentors Recognized at
Thank Your Mentor Breakfast
These outstanding mentors were nominated and recognized by their program at the 2012 Thank Your Mentor Breakfast. Mobius would like to give a big thank you to all of these mentors!
Mark Redmond, Boys & Girl Club: Club Compass
“Mark goes above and beyond by being not only a positive person for his mentee Sharmarke to hang out with, but also an advocate for Sharmarke and his family. I chose to recognize Mark because of his outstanding commitment to Sharmarke. Mark and his wife were Sharmarke’s host family several years ago, and Mark chose to make his relationship with Sharmarke offical by becoming a mentor through the Club,” -Karina Spiegel, Volunteer Coordinator at the Boys & Girls Club of Burlington.
Micaela Wallace, Connecting Youth Mentoring
“Micaela Wallace has brought extraordinary leadership and devotion to kids to CY Mentoring at Williston Central School (WCS). Micaela has been a steadfast, inspiring, and terrifically fun mentor. She has also been a dream advisory board member: shaping, staffing, and giving her creative flare to every single WCS mentoring event for the past nine years,” -Nancy Carlson, Mentoring Director of Connecting Youth Mentoring.
Molly Mulcahy, DREAM Program

“Molly really puts her whole heart, passion, and energy into DREAM and all Elm Street mentees. She works tirelessly to help the program run smoothly, and is incredibly intentional, thoughtful, and supportive of her mentee Noah,” -Sarah Caliendo, Program Empowerment Director of DREAM and AmeriCorps VISTA member.
“David has worked hard to engage and support his mentee in reading and in earning her trust and friendship. We felt David was the perfect representative of this dedicated group… because he embodies good mentoring with his commitment, flexibility, patience, and consistency,” -Amy Cunningham, Executive Director of Everybody Wins! VT.
George Robinson, Grand Isle County Mentoring Program
“As a result of Bryan’s wish to be a vet, George arranged a visit with Nancy Frantz, another Grand Isle County mentor. He did a mouth and dental check, listened to the heart and lungs, an ear exam, examined some blood tests and felt for various organs. This opportunity for Bryan would never have happened without the relationship that he and George have developed and Bryan’s ability to talk about his dreams,” -Karen Browning, Coordinator at Grand Isle County Mentoring.
Gloriane Brown, HowardCenter’s Community Friends Mentoring

“While many mentors welcome their mentees into their home, Gloriane’s house and family have become a true refuge for her mentee. The mentee drops by weekly to sit and share all the news of her life with Gloriane. She has also developed a strong bond with Gloriane’s elderly mother. Both women carefully listen to the ups and downs of this mentee’s world without judgment, offering guidance when appropriate and an acceptance that is unconditional, a gift that few people can offer,” -Kristen Hayden-West, Program Coordinator of the HowardCenter’s Community Friends Mentoring.
Sarah Thyng, King Street Center: Junior-Senior Buddy Program

“Hibo was about eight when we started and I worked hard to make sure was comfortable with me. We have both grown up a lot in the last five years and have gotten to know each other. I still want her to feel comfortable with me, but now I don’t have to work at it. I feel like we are old friends who can tell each other anything,” -Honored mentor Sarah Thyng.
Michaela Burns, MOVE, Saint Michaels College

“She is always thinking of others before herself, and is constantly trying to make the girls feel like they matter. She remains calm and keeps her cool no matter the situation, and her composure transcends throughout the group and makes others feel at ease despite any problems,” -Olivia McCall, Student Coordinator at MOVE.
Esther Lotz, Spectrum
“Every week Esther puts together a group of activities that teaches, motivates and thrills her mentee. It’s always a surprise and her mentee has experienced everything from dog training to floral design to wilderness survival. Esther has shown her and allowed her to experience things that have changed this young woman for the rest of her life,” -Dee Johnson, Mentoring Coordinator at Spectrum Mentoring.

At Winooski Educational Center, Eric mentors Elementary, Middle, and High School students to improve their academic skills so they can be successful in school.
