Dear Friend of Mentoring,
Sometimes I am completely overwhelmed by the generosity of our community. That happened once again this month when we got the news about winning the "Advertising Gone Good" grant from Spike Advertising. We are thrilled to have such a dynamic company helping us find more mentors for kids. I'm especially excited to see how the experts at Spike will help us recruit more male mentors for all those boys on waiting lists at Chittenden County mentoring programs. On the day the grant was announced my mailbox was bursting with happy messages like this one: "This gives us all hope for our boys waiting the queue!" Thank you Spike. You made a lot of people feel really good about the community where they live and work. In an another amazing act of goodness, the Burlington Police Department and the Queen City Police Foundation gathered a group of nonprofits serving youth to share concerns about local kids. In response to what we all heard that morning, Chief Schirling asked his staff and officers to become mentors and Officer Jennifer Cousins organized the volunteers. Within the week, 11 officers and staff had volunteered! We no sooner had the 11 trained when another 11 volunteered! It takes Mobius two staff members and one month to recruit 22 mentors. The Burlington Police provided that number inside of a week. These are two very fine examples of people in the community coming together to make good things happen and we're thrilled for the youth who will benefit. Maybe you have a good idea about how to help close the mentoring gap in Chittenden County. Call me. Let's work together to create a culture of mentoring in our communities. Thanks! Andrea L. Torello, Executive Director of Mobius |

"We are all impressed by the good work that Mobius does in the community," said Ken Millman, President of Spike Advertising. "We are excited to apply a year of focused effort to help raise the profile of this relevant organization."
"We are both honored and humbled to have been chosen by Spike for this opportunity," said Andrea Torello, Executive Director of Mobius. "In turn, we hope to use this generous gift to better serve the community and the mentoring programs we work with by finding more mentors for kids and creating that culture of mentoring that we all dream about."
