Mobius Has a New Board!

June brings a wave of new board members and new officers to the Mobius board. We are pleased to welcome Helen Riehle and Arline Duffy to the board. We also welcome Bill West and Dan Smith as the new board president and secretary, respectively. Bill West was elected to a two-year term, taking over from Dan Smith who served in that position since 2007. Dan will continue to help guide the board as board secretary.
Helen Riehle is the Executive Director of the Champlain Valley Area Health Education Center, St Albans. She served eight years as State Senator and ten years as State Representative. She has many years of experience running nonprofits and advocating for many types of programs and organizations. Helen's extensive connections both locally and around the state will be beneficial in broadening the existing connections of Mobius.
Arline P. Duffy is an associate at Sheehy Furlong & Behm P.C. Arline held a variety of positions in post-secondary education before returning to school to become a lawyer. She served as a law clerk for Senator Patrick Leahy and worked with the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary in Washington, DC. She volunteered as a mentor in mentoring programs at two universities. She brings extensive knowledge of schools at all levels, which will benefit Mobius as we work to expand mentoring in local schools.

All Mobius board members brings genuine passion for helping kids. I am honored and grateful to work with such a dynamic team to create a culture of mentoring in our communities.
Thanks to all the dedicated members of the local mentoring community!
Andrea L. Torello, Executive Director of Mobius

Samantha's Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe
Ingredients:
-Two slices of bread (multigrain or honey oat)
-Two slices of American cheese
-Butter
Directions:
1. Butter one slice of bread, and put it butter-side-down on the grill or in a frying pan.
2. Add two slices of American cheese (arranged diagonally). Butter the other slice of bread and put it butter-side-up on top of the cheese.
3. Cover with a pot lid (to help the cheese melt and defrost the bread, which often starts out frozen).
4. Cook until golden brown on the bottom, flip it over and cook the other side. Cut in quarters, and serve with a dill pickle and a glass of milk.
Special Thanks to Spectrum mentor pair Colleen & Sam for sharing this recipe!
If you're interested in learning about cooking and other potential activities to share with your mentee this summer, read our blog post!

Name: Nicole Marshall
Program: King Street Junior-Senior Buddies
Town: Winooski
Place of Employment: COTS
Age of Mentee: 11
Referred by Mobius in: September 2010
Has Been a Mentor Since: March 2011
Favorite Activities: "We were on a real library kick for a while, but recently we have enjoyed going to my house and using the Wii to play bowling. Odreille is just getting to know my dog, which has been an adventure!"
Favorite Thing About Mentoring: "Every week, I have an excuse to go out and do something fun for a couple of hours. In my job at COTS, I work during the day while kids are at school and interact mostly with parents. It's nice to have some one-on-one time with a child who is benefitting from having another positive role model in her life whom she can count on and who can relate to her more as a friend than an authority figure."
