Support Mentoring in Vermont through Mobius’ 2014 Annual Appeal!

According to The Mentoring Effect, a 2014 study commissioned by MENTOR (The National Mentoring Partnership), one in three youth in Vermont will enter adulthood without experiencing the benefits of having a natural or formal mentor. That means one out of three children will grow up with no adult outside of their immediate family they feel they can turn to for support. Youth with a caring, consistent adult mentor are:

  • More than twice as likely to hold a leadership position in a club or sports team,
  • 81% more likely to report participating regularly in sports or extracurricular activities,
  • 78% more likely to volunteer regularly in their communities, and
  • 55% more likely to enroll in college.

As Vermont’s Mentoring Partnership, Mobius supports 150 programs that serve approximately 2,500 youth throughout the state. By fostering new programs and providing the necessary resources to bolster existing programs, Mobius ensures that more youth receive the full benefits of mentoring.

I encourage you to learn more about one former mentee’s story, read our full appeal letter, and make a donation here to support young people across Vermont.

Senator Patrick Leahy - advocate for youth mentoring in Vermont

“Mobius has done tremendous work to expand the reach of mentoring in Vermont. We know how important a mentor can be in the life of a child or young adult, and we know that an investment in mentoring is an investment in their future, and ours. I am proud to have supported the work of Mobius, and I will continue to support the continued growth of Vermont’s statewide mentoring partnerships.” -U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy
